The Devils finally have a goal scorer, and this one is coming to New Jersey with a chip on his shoulder after a surprising trade.

The Devils on Wednesday acquired former No. 1 overall pick Taylor Hall in a trade with the Oilers.

In exchange for Hall, the Devils sent defenseman Adam Larsson to Edmonton.

An emotional Hall admitted the move caught him off guard after dealing with six losing seasons in Edmonton.

Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has acquired Norris Trophy winner P.K. Subban from the Montreal Canadiens for defenseman Shea Weber.

“P.K. Subban is an elite offensive defenseman with tremendous skill and contagious energy that makes the Nashville Predators a better team now and into the future,” Poile said. “Superstar defensemen of his caliber are a rare commodity, and we are thrilled to add him to the organization.”

The Sabres made a big splash before the final day of the NHL draft got underway Saturday morning, acquiring top-four defenseman Dmitry Kulikov from the Panthers.

The Panthers' first-round pick in the 2009 draft, Kulikov has one year left on his contract and is set to make $4.5 million next season. He had one goal and 17 points in 73 games last year. Overall, Kulikov has 28 goals and 138 points in 460 career games.

The Avalanche announced today that the team has acquired forward Rocco Grimaldi from the Panthers in exchange for goaltender Reto Berra.

Grimaldi, 23, was Florida’s second-round pick (33rd overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He appeared in 20 games for the Panthers this past season, tallying five points (3g/2a). He also dressed in two playoff games during Florida’s first-round series against the Islanders.

Grimaldi spent most of the season with the Portland Pirates of the AHL, where he notched 33 points (16 goals, 17 assists) in 52 contests. Grimaldi made his NHL debut with the Panthers in 2014-15, appearing in seven games. 

The Buffalo Sabres acquired the rights to forward Jimmy Vesey from the Nashville Predators in exchange for a third-round pick (No. 76 overall) in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.

Arizona Coyotes General Manager John Chayka announced today that the Coyotes have acquired the San Jose Sharks' 2016 4th round draft choice (120th overall) and the Sharks' 2017 3rd round draft choice (previously Detroit's pick) in exchange for forward Maxim Letunov and a 2017 6th round draft choice.

The Maple Leafs announced today that the club has acquired goaltender Frederik Andersen from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for the 30th overall selection from the 2016 NHL Entry Draft (originally acquired by Toronto from Pittsburgh) and a second round selection from the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.

Andersen posted a 22-9-7 record with a 2.30 goals-against-average and .919 save-percentage in 43 games (37 starts) last season with the Ducks. The 26-year-old also went 3-2 with a 1.41 GAA and .947 SV% in five playoff starts in the 2016 post-season. In 125 career regular season games with Anaheim, Andersen has posted a 77-26-12 record with a 2.33 GAA and .918 SV%. 

John Chayka, the NHL's youngest general manager, made his first trade Thursday, striking early to bulk up the Arizona Coyotes' defense.

The Coyotes acquired the negotiating rights for defenseman Alex Goligoski from the Dallas Stars for a 2016 fifth-round pick.

The Carolina Hurricanes acquired forwards Teuvo Teravainen and Bryan Bickell from the Chicago Blackhawks for two draft picks on Wednesday.

Carolina sent a second-round pick in this month's draft, the 50th overall, and a third-round pick next year to Chicago, which saves significant salary-cap space.

The New Jersey Devils acquired forward Marc Savard and a second-round pick in 2018 from the Florida Panthers on Friday for Graham Black and Paul Thompson.

Savard, 38, hasn't played since the 2010-11 season because of concussion-related issues.
